EMDR
At The Healing Apple Therapy Center, we offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy—an evidence-based treatment designed to help individuals heal from difficult and distressing experiences. EMDR is highly effective for trauma, anxiety, depression, and other challenges that can leave someone feeling “stuck” or unable to move forward.
How EMDR Works
EMDR follows an eight-phase process, with your safety and well-being at the center of every step. Your therapist will ensure you feel supported, grounded, and cared for as you process your experiences at a pace that feels right for you. This approach helps the brain reprocess memories that may have become “frozen in time” due to trauma or overwhelming stress. By engaging both sides of the brain, EMDR promotes integration and healing, reducing the emotional charge of painful memories so you can move forward with greater peace and resilience.
A Brief History
EMDR was developed in the 1980s by Francine Shapiro and was first used to treat veterans returning from war. Since then, extensive research has demonstrated its effectiveness across many populations, and the method has been refined to support children, adolescents, and adults alike.
