Play Therapy
What is Play Therapy
At The Mending Forge Therapy & Wellness Center, we understand that play is more than just fun for children—it's a powerful tool for growth and healing. Play helps children express their inner world, regulate emotions, develop healthy social and coping skills, learn problem-solving, and navigate life’s transitions. Just as importantly, play creates a meaningful bridge between the child and their heartparent, fostering deeper connection and attunement. Through play, healing begins, and relationships flourish.
Why You Should Choose Our Services
At The Mending Forge Therapy & Wellness Center, our clinicians are trained in play therapy and committed to ongoing professional development to refine and enhance their play therapy skills. This dedication ensures that the children and families we serve receive the highest quality of play therapy, because our goal is to see your child and your family thrive!
What to Expect in the First Session
The first intake session is designed to build a strong foundation for your child's therapeutic journey. We begin by meeting with the parent(s) or caregiver(s) without the child present. This allows us to gather important background information about your child's history, explore the reasons for seeking play therapy, and gain a better understanding of the family dynamics.
This initial intake session also allows us to answer your questions, provide insight into how play therapy works, and collaborate with you in developing a personalized therapy plan. This plan is tailored to your child's unique needs and aligned with clear therapeutic goals to support healing, growth, and connection.
